Bio:

Judy M. Baker is an author, poet, and book lover. She discovered a silver lining to being diagnosed with ovarian cancer in the last week of 2013 — gaining an appreciation for the importance of prioritizing happiness and wellness. These lifestyle changes are side-effects she treasures.

“Happiness is a choice” and she engages in being happy every day. Judy brings joy to her clients. We know her for listening deeply, hearing what people need, and guiding them to succeed, one step at a time. She is a reliable sounding board. Judy can shut up and listen and encourage honest conversations about tough challenges authors and business owners encounter. She knows what it is like to be a business owner, author, and introvert.

Book Marketing Mentor Judy M. Baker is in business to inspire authors to take actions that make a difference in their visibility and book sales. She embraces experimentation, creativity, curiosity, and engagement to help clients fully express their purpose with passion and power. Encouraging authors to see marketing is a part of everyday conversations. She shows how small strategic actions build awareness, gain attention, grow connections, and sell more books.

A fear of public speaking disabled her ability to communicate. Judy loves to share how she overcame shyness to shine as a speaker. Her practice of deep listening to the challenges and concerns of her clients allows her to bring empathy into mentoring sessions—providing a safe place for authors to explore ideas and ways to overcome the obstacles getting in their way.

Baker makes the hard stuff of book marketing easy. She specializes in branding and marketing. Her expertise as a graphic designer, book designer, marketing strategist, performer, and being a profoundly curious individual are some reasons authors love working with her.
Baker is active in the publishing community and serves on the board of Redwood Writers, where she leads by collaborating, nudging, and respecting the needs of members.

Baker is a native Californian, living her dream in Sonoma. Past President of The Bay Area Independent Publishers Association, BAIPA; a member of the Bay Area Consultants Network (BACN); President of Redwood Writers.
